Chris Davis is thrilled with his brand new house - a specially modified home with wheelchair access - built by Ausbuild in Springfield Lakes. The 39-year-old first home buyer said he was very impressed with how the Ausbuild design team worked closely with him to address his specific needs.

''They really blew me away with how helpful they were,'' Chris said. ''We had to sort out a few design issues such as wheelchair access at the front and back of the home, re-designing the main bathroom and widening the internal doors. ''Nothing was too much trouble and the result is a very comfortable home that's been purpose-built especially for me.''

As the low-set home is built on a gently sloping block, the split-level design also required an internal ramp. ''The great thing is the internal ramp looks as though it's meant to be there, rather than just for wheelchair access,'' he said. ''Ausbuild really went the extra mile to make my home the best it possibly could be in terms of access and aesthetics. ''At one stage, after the plan was signed off, the designers came back to me and said they'd come up with an even better idea for the bathroom.''

With affordability a top priority, Chris was also pleased the modifications added minimal expense to the cost of his house and land package. And while he admitted Ausbuild's 5 Star energy efficiency rating, wasn't a priority for him in the beginning, he appreciates it now. "Since moving in, I've realised how cheap this home is to run,'' he said. ''Our electricity is up to $100 dollars a quarter cheaper which has been a real bonus.''

Another selling point for Chris was that Ausbuild offered house and land packages in all the best communities like Springfield Lakes. ''We love Springfield Lakes because it's a new area with great infrastructure and transport planned for the future,'' he said. ''I think we'll get good capital gain on our home here, but we can also enjoy a great lifestyle thanks to the beautiful lake and parklands. ''My partner Donna and I love taking our Labrador Angus to the dog park and although it sounds a little silly, the people here really are friendlier.''

Chris said Ausbuild definitely fulfilled its ''Building With You'' promise.  ''I was able to have a lot of input with the designers and the builders at every step of the way,'' he said. ''So it really feels like home - it's my place.''
